A manufacturing defect in the Genesis GV60 electric vehicle could cause the windscreen to detach while driving, according to the recall notice.
Electric Cars
Hyundai Motor Company Australia has recalled 381 examples of the 2022-2024 Genesis GV60 electric car, citing a manufacturing defect that could cause the windscreen to fly off while driving.
The affected vehicles are stamped 2022 to 2024 models – and are understood to cover most examples of the electric car ever delivered in Australia – but may have been sold at a later date.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing defect, the windscreen may have insufficient adhesion and could detach from the vehicle whilst driving.
"If the windscreen detaches from the vehicle whilst driving, it could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property."
A full list of vehicle identification numbers for the 381 vehicles involved in the recall can be found here.
The recall notice says "owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by Genesis Motor Australia asking them to schedule an appointment with their dealership to have the repair carried out, free of charge."
Customers can contact Genesis via phone at 1800 908 070, or via its website.
