The lack of the correct warning on the brake fluid cap has prompted a recall of close to 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pick-ups in Australia.
General Motors Australia and New Zealand has recalled 1899 examples of its 2023-2024 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up, due to brake fluid caps that could lack a mandatory warning notice.
All affected vehicles are Model Year 2024 (MY24) examples, and the recall is described as applying to "Silverado LD" pick-ups, with LD expected to refer to the 'Light Duty' 1500 range.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The brake fluid cap affixed to the vehicle does not contain the required warnings in accordance with the standards set out under Australian Design Rules (ADR) 35/07 – Commercial Vehicle Brake System.
“There is no safety hazard associated with this recall and the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle.
“Vehicles are not complaint with the Australian Design Rules (ADR) 35/07 – Commercial Vehicle Brake Systems.”
