Hyundai Australia has expanded its Santa Fe family SUV line-up with more affordable non-hybrid turbocharged four-cylinder petrol variants.

The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe line-up has grown in Australia with the addition of new turbo-petrol variants.
Hyundai has added a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol – borrowed from the Sonata N Line sedan and luxury Genesis line-up – to the Santa Fe in Australia, slotting below existing hybrid-only variants.
On sale now and due in local showrooms by the new year, the turbo-petrol Santa Fe will be available in the entry-level Santa Fe eponymous variant and the mid-spec Elite at launch.
The 2.5-litre turbo-petrol Santa Fe costs $2500 less than an equivalent hybrid – bringing the cost-of-entry for the family SUV down to $53,000 before on-road costs.
It reduces the difference between the most-affordable version of the previous-generation Santa Fe and the new model to $6950 – with an increase in standard equipment and a larger body for its new generation, along with new engines.
Turbo-petrol versions of the flagship Calligraphy – offered with six or seven seats in hybrid form – will arrive in Australia in early 2025, with pricing to be announced closer to its arrival.
Based on the $2500 difference between other variants, the petrol Calligraphy is expected to be priced at $72,500 – compared to $75,000 for the hybrid – with a six-seat option adding second-row captain's chairs for an extra $500.
A replacement for the 3.5-litre non-turbo V6 offered in the previous-generation Santa Fe line-up, the 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbo delivers 206kW and 422Nm compared to 200kW and 331Nm for the V6.
Combined fuel consumption is rated at 9.3 litres per 100 kilometres – down from 10.5L/100km for the previous V6 but up from 5.6L/100km for the current hybrid – with combined CO2 emissions of 212g/km, 84g/km more than the hybrid.
The turbo-petrol is matched to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission – and it is the first time a petrol-only Hyundai Santa Fe has been offered with all-wheel-drive in Australia since 2019.
Braked towing capacity is rated at 2000kg for the 2.5-litre Santa Fe – up from the hybrid’s 1650kg limit.
However it is still 500kg less than petrol V6 and four-cylinder turbo-diesel versions of the previous-generation Santa Fe.
Like the hybrid, Hyundai offers the $6990 XRT Adventure Option Pack and the $9990 XRT Peak Option Pack, adding lifted off-road suspension, smaller 17-inch alloy wheels, all-terrain tyres, underbody protection, mudflaps, and for the Peak Option Pack, roof racks and side steps.
Standard equipment for the non-hybrid petrol Santa Fe and Elite appears to be identical to equivalent hybrid versions, except for hybrid-specific features such as regenerative braking.
