The facelifted 2026 XPeng G6 electric SUV has been spied testing, ahead of an Australian showroom rollout previously indicated to occur in the coming months.

A pair of camouflaged G6 vehicles were spotted driving in convoy in Sydney, showing an updated look with redesigned LED tail-lights and new wheels.

The updated electric SUV – which has already been released in Thailand and China – will also get an updated front fascia, with a full-width LED light strip, and the relocation of the XPeng badge to the bonnet.

Inside, the size of the infotainment display grows from 14.9 inches to 15.6 inches, and sits on a redesigned dashboard, with the digital instrument cluster now a freestanding item.

There's a range of other changes inside, including materials throughout the cabin, and redesigned front seats.

Battery capacity in the updated, entry-level XPeng G6 Standard Range format has increased from 66kWh to 68.5kWh, increasing the driving range rating based on European WLTP testing from 435km to 470km.

It has come at the cost of power however, with European models rated at 185kW/440Nm from a single rear electric motor, down from 190kW.

The Long Range has gone in the other direction, however, with the battery capacity dropping from 87.5kWh to 80.8kWh, resulting in a 525km WLTP driving range rating, down from 570km.

Power has increased in the more expensive model, from 210kW to 218kW/440Nm.

Available in Europe is an all-wheel-drive Performance flagship grade, combining the 80.8kWh battery with dual electric motors for 358kW/660Nm combined, zero to 100km/h acceleration in a claimed 4.1 seconds, and a 510km WLTP range rating.

2026 XPeng G6 update caught testing in Australia

It's unclear if prices will increase for the XPeng G6, which is currently listed at $54,800 before on-road costs for the Standard Range, and $59,800 before on-road costs for the Long Range.

XPeng has previously indicated an Australian arrival in the fourth quarter of 2025 (October to December – only 12 months after the first model arrived on Australian shores – but there has been no news on a local launch since April.

It could be joined by a growing range of offerings from XPeng for the Australian market, including the G9 large SUV and X9 people mover.

Drive has reached out to local representatives for XPeng to confirm updated arrival timing for the 2026 G6 in Australia.
