Ford Australia is recalling 6415 F-150 pick-ups – believed to be every example it has built and sold – for a defect that could damage the rear hubs and axles.
Ford Australia has announced a recall of 6415 F-150 pick-ups built between 2023 and 2025, due to a fault with the rear wheel hub bolts.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing defect, the rear wheel hub bolts may become loose or break causing damage to the wheel axle and axle hub splines over time.
"This could result in the vehicle moving whilst engaged in park position or a loss of motive power.
"A loss of motive power whilst driving and/or the vehicle’s movement whilst in the park position could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants, bystanders and other road users."
The recall notice stresses that broken hub bolts won’t result in the wheel separating from the vehicle.
The latest recall affects all variants of the Australian-remanufactured F-150 range built between 2023 and 2025 – including examples currently subject to a stop-delivery notice, which remains in place.
A full list of vehicle identification numbers (VINs) for the affected vehicles can be found on the government-run Vehicle Recalls website, here.
Affected owners will be contacted by Ford Australia and advised to make an appointment with their nearest service centre to carry out an inspection and repair free of charge.
Owners can contact the Ford Customer Relationship Centre by phone on 13 36 73, or by emailing [email protected]
