Bentley has recalled 16 examples of its 2023 Bentley Bentayga plug-in hybrid, citing a potential fault with the high-voltage battery pack.

The affected vehicles are stamped 2023 models, but may have been sold at a later date, and cost at least $400,000 before on-road costs when new.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a hardware defect, the high-voltage battery may discharge whilst charging the vehicle."

"If this occurs, it could overheat leading to a vehicle fire."

A full list of vehicle identification numbers for the 16 vehicles involved in the recall can be found here.

Bentley advises "owners can continue to use their vehicles", but they will also be contacted by the brand to make an appointment with an authorised dealer to remedy the problem via a free software update.

Owners can also contact Bentley via its website.
