2024-2025 Volkswagen Tiguan recalled in Australia over safety fault

Volkswagen Group Australia has recalled 1482 examples of its 2024 to 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV, citing a potential fault with its semi-autonomous highway driving system.

The affected vehicles are stamped 2024 to 2025 models, but may have been sold at a later date.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a software issue, if the driver does not have their hands on the steering wheel for an extended period, the brake jolt triggered by the Emergency Assist (EA) or Travel Assist (TA) assistance functions meant to alert the driver may be misinterpreted as the driver braking."

"As a result, the Emergency Assist (EA) or Travel Assist (TA) assistance functions are deactivated.
