  • Priced from $49,490 before on-road costs

Drivers of the 2025 Renault Trafic can turn off advanced safety features they don't like at the press of a button, in what is believed to be a first for a van in Australia.

An update to Renault's rival to the Toyota HiAce has introduced a button beside the steering column that, at a press, can disable or enable multiple of the van's safety features at once, in a 'perso' favourites mode.

Other new vehicles have shortcut buttons for safety features, but most just open the menu on the touchscreen where drivers need to turn each system off individually, rather than all at once automatically.

The 'ADAS' (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) button in the Trafic has been joined by other safety and spec upgrades for Model Year 2025 (MY25), as well as a $490 price rise across the range.

A driver attention monitor is now standard across the range, as well as pedestrian and cyclist detection for the autonomous emergency braking (AEB), helping the Trafic's crash-avoidance systems earn a 'Gold' rating from ANCAP.

Features such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition and front parking sensors remain optional, or limited to more expensive model grades.

Already standard across the range on the 2024 model was AEB with car-to-car detection, and lane departure warning.

New on the Pro variant for 2025 is a factory-fitted steel bulkhead with a glazed window, and a fold-down workstation built into the middle seat, with a laptop storage compartment and upright document holder.

Automatic high beams have been added to the base model, the Premium and Lifestyle have gained a 7.0-inch instrument display, and there are updated Renault badges across the line-up.

A QR code has been added to the windscreen to give "first responders quick access to the vehicle’s structural and technical information in the event of a crash," Renault says.

A full list of standard equipment is listed at the bottom of this story – both new and existing features – as well as key optional extras.

Seven variants of the Trafic are available, across short- and long-wheelbase bodies, manual and automatic transmissions, and three-seat van and six-seat Crew formats.

All models are powered by a 125kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, matched with a six-speed manual or dual-clutch 'EDC' auto and front-wheel drive.

Renault claims fuel consumption of 6.5 to 7.2 litres per 100 kilometres, depending on model, while servicing intervals are set every 12 months or 30,000km, whichever comes first.
