Production of the current Hyundai i20 N hot hatch will cease for Australia in 2026, with a new model around the corner.
The current Hyundai i20 N hot hatch will soon reach the end of the line for Australia.
Hyundai Australia has confirmed production of the Turkish-built i20 N will cease for our market from March 2026, however, it forecasts it will have enough stock to last until the end of next year.
"i20 N production for the Australian market will cease from March 2026," a Hyundai Australia spokesperson said.
"We have secured a strong final production run to ensure we have enough stock to last through to the end of next year."
The Hyundai i20 N and i30 N hatches were axed in Europe at the start of 2024, however, they have lived on in Australia, with an announcement on the i30 N hatch yet to be made.
With stock of the current i20 N expected to last in Australia until the end of next year, albeit in limited configurations, there isn't likely to be a long wait for the next i20 N, which is rumoured to debut in 2026.
Petrol-electric hybrid power is expected to feature in the next i20 N to cut emissions and boost power.
The current model's 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder will be upgraded to meet upcoming Euro 7 emissions rules, and the addition of hybrid technology is likely to come at the expense of its manual transmission.
The current Hyundai i20 N, first launched in 2021, is priced from $37,500 before on-road costs in Australia, after a $2000 price rise in September as "a combination of warranty, NVES [New Vehicle Efficiency Standard] and European factory sourcing".
It features a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine developing 150kW and 275Nm, or 304Nm on overboost, matched to a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive.
