Ford Australia is confident in its decision to remove the bi-turbo variant of its four-cylinder diesel engine from its Ranger and Everest lineup in response to customers' desire for V6 engines, the brand's marketing boss says.
Ford Australia’s Marketing Director Ambrose Henderson told Drive the brand was optimistic about the changes to its line-up: “We are incredibly currently confident in the updates we are making in that we making in 2026 on both of those entities.”
Henderson said the line-up was influenced by a customer demand for the V6 powertrain.
“What customers told us is they wanted greater availability of that V6 powertrain,” he said.
Ford goes into 2026 claiming to have the widest range of ute powertrain options for customers to choose from in Australia.
“We continue to have a four-cylinder turbo diesel. We have the V6 turbo diesel, we have the V6 petrol performance engine, and we also have the newly launched Ranger hybrid with the hybrid powertrain as well.” Henderson said.
Ford's Ranger lineup expands significantly this year with six variants of its 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6-powered Ford Ranger Super Duty. The Super Duty is priced from $82,990 (excluding on-road costs) for the base model single-cab chassis to $99,990 (excluding on-road costs) for the top-spec XLT dual-cab pick-up model.
