The latest Gran Turismo 7 update has added three new cars to the PlayStation video game – one of which is a first for the long-running video game racing series.

In addition to the Hyundai Elantra N TC and the Porsche 911 GT3 R being added to the game’s growing list of available cars, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has also been added – marking the first time a Chinese marque and model have been available to the racing series.

While the Gran Turismo racing series has been ongoing for nearly 30 years, having first launched in 1997 on the original PlayStation, the car list has primarily focused on Japanese, European, and American models.

However, China is now the largest new-car market in the world, and new models like the aforementioned Xiaomi SUV7 Ultra are making waves in enthusiast circles.

The Forza video game series meanwhile, first made Chinese cars available in 2022 when it introduced the MG3, Wuling Hongguang S, and Nio EP9 in an update.

In the real world, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra produces a claimed 1138kW/1770Nm from its three electric motors for a stated 0-100km/h acceleration time of 1.98 seconds.

Xiaomi also lapped the Nurburgring last year with the SU7 Ultra in a claimed 7:04.96 – beating the Rimac Nevera, Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, and Tesla Model S Plaid.

As well as the Xiaomi, Hyundai, and Porsche additions, Gran Turismo 7’s January 1.67 Update also adds three ‘World Circuit’ events including one on Australia’s Mount Panorama, a new photo location backdrop, and an extra ‘Collection: Hyundai N’ milestone in the game’s Café.

The latest Gran Turismo 7 update is available now to owners of the game.
