According to the recall notice, the fault could result in a fracture to the left-hand engine camshaft, causing the vehicle to stall while driving.
Ford Australia has recalled 13,490 examples of its 2022-2025 Ford Ranger ute and 2022-2025 Ford Everest SUV, citing a potential fault with the left-hand engine camshaft in diesel V6 examples.
The affected vehicles are stamped 2022 to 2025 models, equipped with the 3.0-litre 'Lion' turbocharged diesel V6 engine.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing defect, the left-hand engine camshaft sprocket may fracture.
"As a result, the engine could stall, leading to a sudden loss of motive power whilst driving.
"A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving increases the risk of an accident, which may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users."

Ford Australia advises it will contact affected owners in writing to request they contact their preferred Ford dealer to have their vehicle rectified, free of charge.
