The Palisade is the next Hyundai SUV to adopt boxy Range Rover-like styling, with a high-tech cabin and the expected option of hybrid tech for the first time.
The 2025 Hyundai Palisade has been unveiled in South Korea – with bold Range Rover-like styling and a more modern interior – ahead of an Australian launch anticipated next year.
The first new Palisade in six years adopts the latest technology from other models in the Hyundai range, and is set to introduce petrol-electric hybrid power for the first time – possibly as standard in Australia, replacing diesel and pure petrol propulsion.
Australian arrival timing is yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to launch locally sometime in 2025.
The new Palisade's styling is bolder than the outgoing model, with boxier proportions, large LED lights and cues likened to the early-2000s Range Rover.
Flagship versions offer 21-inch alloy wheels, with a shorter front overhang, longer wheelbase and greater rear overhang than its predecessor, as well as chunky roof rails.
Inside, there is a pair of 12.3-inch screens for instruments and infotainment, running Hyundai's latest software expected to offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto under a curved panel.
The steering wheel has been plucked from the Santa Fe, and there's a new 'island-type' centre console with storage underneath, a wireless phone charging pad, 100-watt USB-C charging points, and two large cupholders.
In South Korea, the Palisade is available with nine seats – converting the front centre console into a middle seating position – allowing the car to be driven in bus lanes in its home market.
It remains to be seen if Australia gets this option. If the current model is a guide, expect seven-seat and eight-seat layouts to be offered locally.
Hyundai promises more interior space than the outgoing Palisade, as well as soft materials throughout the cabin, 60:40 split-folding second- and third-row seats.
Buyers can option the interior in black, grey, brown, navy blue or dark grey, while new exterior colours for the latest model include Ecotronic Grey Pearl, Cast Iron Brown Pearl, Galaxy Maroon Pearl and Crazy Blue Pearl.
Hyundai is yet to confirm technical specifications for the new Palisade, but unverified reports out of South Korea claim there will be a choice of three engines – including a hybrid.
Importantly, there is no sign of a new diesel version – mirroring the latest Tucson and Santa Fe SUVs.
South Korean reports suggest a choice of a 206kW 3.5-litre petrol V6, a 213kW 2.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder, and a new 2.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder hybrid with 246kW.
The hybrid may claim fuel use of less than 7.0L/100km in South Korean testing, compared to 10.2L/100km for the V6 and 9.5L/100km for the non-hybrid four-cylinder, reports claim.
More details of the 2025 Hyundai Palisade are due closer to its Australian arrival expected next year.
