The Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is set to receive a revised line-up, styling changes and drive-away deals saving up to $20,000 in Australia later this year.

Australian pricing and initial specifications for the 2026 Ford Ranger PHEV have been confirmed ahead of local showroom arrivals due between July and September, joining the updated 'MY2026.5' Ranger diesel and Raptor.

Priced from $59,000 drive-away in an introductory offer – compared with $62,000 drive-away currently, or $71,990 before on-road costs – the Ranger PHEV now opens with an XL entry grade, replacing the XLT.

It allows the Ranger PHEV to undercut the BYD Shark 6 Premium dual-cab pick-up, which costs around $61,000 drive-away, depending on the state or territory of registration, and excluding special offers.

The new name better reflects the PHEV's reduced specification compared with its XLT diesel counterpart, including halogen headlights and daytime running lights instead of LEDs – though some features have been removed from the PHEV XL compared with the outgoing XLT.

These include power-folding side mirrors, side steps, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and a perimeter alarm system, which are now exclusive to the PHEV Sport and PHEV Wildtrak.

However, a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster is now standard across the Ranger PHEV line-up, up from the 8.0-inch digital cluster on the outgoing 2025 range.

The Ranger PHEV Sport – available for $66,000 drive-away, unchanged from a special offer for the current 2025 model – adds a surround-view camera, Pro Trailer Backup Assist and automatic high beam.

Command Grey, a colour offered for the Ranger Raptor, Ranger Super Duty and Everest Tremor, is now exclusively available for the Sport within the Ranger PHEV line-up.

The $70,000 drive-away PHEV Wildtrak – down $3000 from a current drive-away offer for the PHEV Stormtrak limited-edition – now includes orange exterior accents and a new Ignite Orange exterior colour, replacing Cyber Orange, mirroring its diesel counterpart.

In Europe, the Ranger PHEV is now offered in a flagship Platinum grade, along with new features including trailer theft assist and BlueCruise hands-free highway driving, but they are not available in Australia.

The 2026 Ford Ranger PHEV mirrors styling revisions applied to diesel versions, including black exterior trim replacing chrome or grey finishes across the range, and updated, flat-design Ford badging.

Unchanged is the Ranger PHEV's plug-in hybrid system, combining a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a 75kW electric motor for 207kW and 697Nm total system outputs.

An 11.8kWh lithium-ion battery allows for a claimed 49km NEDC electric-only driving range, compared with 100km for the BYD Shark 6 (29.6kWh battery) and 115km for the GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV (37.1kWh battery).

Australian showroom arrivals for the updated 2026 Ford Ranger PHEV are due between July and September this year, with full specifications set to be shared closer to its launch.
