The 2026 Skoda Superb plug-in hybrid will be sold exclusively as a wagon in Australia, priced from $66,990 drive-away – significantly undercutting the petrol-only version.

It comes at the cost of power – the plug-in hybrid Superb 45kW less potent than its regular sibling – and equipment, with features such as leather seat accents, a 360-degree camera, and a head-up display exclusive to the flagship model.

Skoda's plug-in wagon is $8000 cheaper than its petrol-powered equivalent, the Superb 195TSI Sportline, which uses a more powerful 195kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and all-wheel drive.

The PHEV produces 150kW and 350Nm from its combination of a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and single electric motor, driving the front wheels.

It adds a 25.7kWh battery rated to deliver an all-electric driving range of up to 112km based on European WLTP testing, and can support 50kW DC fast charging for a 10 to 80 per cent boost-up in 25 minutes, or a full charge on an 11kW AC plug in 2.5 hours.

The plug-in hybrid Superb is expected to be more frugal than the 195TSI, which uses a claimed 7.7 litres per 100 kilometres, but Skoda is yet to confirm fuel consumption.

Standard features include heated front seats, keyless entry, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, silver 19-inch alloy wheels, metallic paint, and rear privacy glass.

Compared to the 195TSI Sportline, the PHEV deletes power front seat adjustment, ventilated and massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated outboard rear seats, alloy pedal covers, a 360-degree camera, premium audio, a head-up display, auto parking, and digital radio.

Matrix LED headlights are swapped for less advanced fixed-beam units, leather and suede seats are swapped for cloth, and the Sportline's black exterior trim is replaced with chrome, among other changes.

Skoda offers a seven-year warranty on all its models, and the Superb PHEV is available with a nationwide drive-away launch price. Cars are already in Australia, and are expected to reach dealerships imminently.
