Subaru's most affordable electric vehicle yet has launched in Australia as a rival to the Kia EV3 and Zeekr X small SUVs.
The 2026 Subaru Uncharted is a smaller sibling to the Solterra and Trailseeker electric vehicles – with a lower, sloped roofline – and a twin to the Toyota C-HR BEV due in Australia next year.
Priced from $59,990 before on-road costs, the Uncharted will be limited to a single all-wheel-drive (AWD) grade with dual electric motors for a 252kW combined system output and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of "approximately" five seconds.
It is $2000 cheaper than the Solterra medium SUV, following a price cut across Subaru Australia's existing EV line-up effective Thursday, 14 May 2026, but includes more standard equipment, in line with the $67,990 Solterra AWD Touring.
The Uncharted shares its 252kW dual electric motors and 74.7kWh CATL lithium-ion battery with the all-wheel-drive Subaru Solterra, Trailseeker, Toyota bZ4X and bZ4X Touring.
Matching its larger siblings, it is capable of DC fast-charging at up to 150kW for a 10 to 80 per cent replenishment in approximately 30 minutes, along with 22kW AC home charging.
A 522-kilometre WLTP driving range rating applies to the Uncharted with its standard 20-inch alloy wheels, compared with 517km for the Solterra AWD Touring with the same wheel size.
Measuring 4516mm long, 1869mm wide and 1620mm tall with a 2750mm wheelbase, the Uncharted is 174mm shorter and 30mm lower than the Solterra, with a 100mm shorter wheelbase.
Standard features include a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, dual wireless smartphone chargers, and black synthetic leather upholstery.
The Uncharted AWD also includes heated front and outboard rear seats, a heated steering wheel, LED ambient lighting, a digital rear-view mirror, an electric tailgate, a surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and external vehicle-to-load (V2L) support.
Compared with the $63,950 before on-road costs Kia EV3 GT-Line, the Uncharted AWD includes all-wheel drive and offers more performance, but it has a smaller battery with a lower WLTP driving range.
The $57,900 drive-away Zeekr X AWD steps up to a 365kW dual-motor setup for a 3.7-second 0-100km/h acceleration time, but with a smaller battery than the Subaru and Kia, for a 415-kilometre WLTP range.
The 2026 Subaru Uncharted is now available to order, ahead of Australian showroom arrivals due in the coming months.
