Toyota will charge half as much for the new 2026 Toyota bZ4X Touring electric car over the regular version compared to its twins from Subaru, when it arrives in showrooms next month.
The bZ4X Touring is a stretched version of Toyota's standard Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7 competitor for improved rear-seat headroom and boot space, accompanied by unique styling touches for a more rugged look.
It will be sold in a single, top-of-the-range variant priced from $69,990 plus on-road costs, $2000 more than the regular bZ4X AWD.
It is the same RRP applied to the entry-level version of the related Subaru Trailseeker, which lacks features such as a glass roof and ventilated seats, asking buyers to spend $76,990 plus on-roads for these items.
Subaru charges customers $4000 more for the Trailseeker over its Solterra cousin, despite offering the same upgrades as the bZ4X Touring.
At 140mm longer behind the rear axle than the bZ4X, the Touring receives a larger boot – 550 litres against 452L – plus a more upright tailgate, and additional rear-seat headroom under the flatter roofline.
Powering the bZ4X Touring are dual 167kW electric motors, one on each axle, producing 280kW combined for a claimed zero to 100km/h sprint time of 4.4 seconds.
The 74.7kWh battery pack relates to a WLTP driving range rating of 488km, plus 150kW DC and 22kW AC capability shared with the standard bZ4X.
Touring-specific features are focused on styling, with 20-inch black alloy wheels, front and rear skid plates, chunkier roof rails, matte black wheel arches and bonnet insert, and a rear windscreen wiper.
It is available in a unique Daylight Bronze exterior colour, and offers the option of khaki synthetic leather-look upholstery in place of black.
The 2026 Toyota bZ4X Touring is available to order now, ahead of showroom arrivals due in May.
