The 2027 BMW 7 Series large luxury sedan is set to receive an even more prominent front grille – and a new interior – as part of a mid-life facelift due to be revealed later this month.

BMW's facelifted 7 Series gains a redesigned front end, with larger grilles surrounded by illumination, a new lower bumper, and restyled split headlights, the daytime-running lights now connected to the grille, and the main-beam lights set lower.

Spy photos point to new wheel designs and changes to the LED tail-lights.

More extensive revisions are due inside, where the 7 Series is slated to gain an i3 and iX3-style dashboard with a Panoramic iDrive projection stretching across the dashboard, and a parallelogram-shaped touchscreen.

It will be the first existing BMW model to gain the iX3's interior concept, without its newer Neue Klasse exterior design language.

BimmerPost forum user and reputable BMW insider 'ynguldyn' reports the updated 7 Series will offer a familiar choice of six-cylinder, V8 and electric powertrain options.

An updated 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline six-cylinder will reportedly produce 213kW in 735 guise, and 298kW in 740 trim, as the first two petrol 7 Series variants to launch.

They will reportedly be joined by the electric i7 in 50, 60 and M70 xDrive power levels, all using a larger 112.5kWh battery pack, likely related to the iX3.

A twin-turbo V8-powered M760 xDrive is due at a later date, as is a six-cylinder 750e xDrive petrol plug-in hybrid and 740d xDrive diesel, depending on the market.

The forum user claims a head-up display and touchscreen for the front passenger will be standard, while semi-autonomous driving technology capable of use around town will replace the now-axed Level 3 traffic-jam assistance system.

Due in mid-2027 is the new Alpina 7 Series, according to the user, with 740 xDrive six-cylinder, 760 xDrive V8, and i7 70 xDrive electric power options matched with "many custom Alpina exterior and interior bits".

The 2027 BMW 7 Series is due to be revealed at the Beijing motor show later this month.

Australian arrival timing is yet to be confirmed, but with reports suggesting global production will begin in July 2026, the updated sedan could be in local showrooms by year's end.

In Australia, the current 7 Series range includes 740i petrol ($272,900 plus on-road costs), i7 xDrive60 electric ($306,900) and i7 M70 xDrive high-performance electric ($344,900) variants – the lattermost being the brand's current most expensive car locally.
