More than 10,000 Fords were sold in June 2025, its best result since 2009, with the Ranger – Australia's best-selling car – Everest and Mustang leading their respective segments.
Ford Australia has returned to sales volumes not seen since 2009, when the locally-built Falcon and Territory were among its most popular vehicles, according to the latest VFACTS data.
In June 2025, Ford reported 10,103 vehicles as sold in Australia – retaining its newfound number-two spot, ahead of Mazda – as the Ranger ute, Everest off-road SUV and Mustang sports car continued to lead their respective segments for the month.
The company – "extremely pleased" with the result – said it was its best June sales "in more than fifteen years" when, in June 2009, it delivered 10,194 vehicles and held a 10 per cent share of the market, behind Toyota and Holden.
"The Ford Australia team and our dealers have worked very hard for these results, to engage with customers to deliver great products, and great value," a Ford Australia spokesperson said.
In June 2025, Ford held a 7.9 per cent share of the new-car market amid a growing number of challenger brands – including China's BYD and GWM – but individually, the Ranger and Everest accounted for around 20 per cent of sales in their segments, and one in two sports cars sold were a Mustang.
While it was a close race, the Ranger remained Australia's number-one vehicle last month with 6293 sales – up 0.1 per cent from last June – 98 examples ahead of the second-place Toyota HiLux (6195).
The Everest was the best-selling large SUV with 2705 deliveries, ahead of the Toyota LandCruiser Prado (2177) and Isuzu MU-X (2033), with almost nine-in-ten Ford vehicles sold last month being a Ranger or an Everest.
Year-to-date, the Ranger remains Australia's number-one vehicle with 28,311 sales, though it is down year-on-year, while the Everest SUV is in sixth position with 12,294 sales – behind the mid-size Toyota RAV4 hybrid (24,267), but ahead of the Mazda CX-5 (11,991).
"Having the Australian-designed and engineered Ranger and Everest in the top five selling vehicles in Australia [in June], up against increasing competition, is an immense source of pride for our team," the spokesperson added.
"Ranger is the No.1 selling vehicle in Australia, and with the arrival of the Ranger Plug-in Hybrid this month, and Ranger Super Duty on its way in early 2026, there’s a lot to look forward to."
The new-generation Ford Mustang recorded 370 sales in June, following May 2025, when 720 were sold, its best result since November 2018 and outselling the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV 17-to-one.
It was almost matched by the Transit Custom van, which recorded 371 sales, while the full-size Transit had its best result since May 2011 with 230 deliveries – 247 when including the Transit bus – though it could not overtake the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (402), LDV Deliver 9 (353) and Renault Master (271).
In addition, Ford delivered 78 Tourneo people movers, while the Mustang Mach-E (28) and F-150 (11) were slow sellers last month as they await product updates expected in the second half of 2025.
"The second half of 2025 will also see the arrival of E-Transit Custom, Transit Custom Plug-in Hybrid and Transit Custom Trail, as well as updated Mustang Mach-E and F-150 – giving customers even more opportunity to consider Ford," the spokesperson said.
In 2024, Ford achieved more than 100,000 sales in Australia for the first time since 2008, but it remains to be seen if it can repeat this achievement in 2025, with a half-year sales result of 47,300 compared to 49,622 this time last year (down 4.7 per cent).
