It is increasingly rare that any new vehicle arrives ahead of its proposed on-sale day, but the 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty is now set to go on sale in Australia early.

In a post on LinkedIn, Ford Australia CEO Andrew Birkic confirmed that the Ranger Super Duty range will be arriving ahead of schedule, with customer deliveries to commence before the end of 2025.

Ford had initially promised the Super Duty range for an early 2026 arrival in Australia.

In the post, Birkic reveals how the concept for the Super Duty range came from meetings with Ford’s fleet customers who were modifying ‘regular duty’ Rangers to meet the needs of their operations.

The Ranger Super Duty has been re-engineered with towing and carrying capacities beyond those of typical ‘mid-size’ utes sold in Australia.

The Ranger Super Duty is rated to tow up to 4500kg when using genuine Ford towing equipment, and has a 4500kg gross vehicle mass (GVM) and 8000kg gross combination mass (GCM).

A regular Ranger XLT V6 cab-chassis provides a maximum 3500kg towing capacity, a gross vehicle mass of 3280kg, and a gross combination mass of  6400kg,

All Ranger Super Duty models are powered by a version of the Ranger’s 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 engine, rated at 154kW and 600Nm, down slightly on the 184kW/600Nm output of the regular Ranger V6.

Mechanical changes made to the Super Duty include 18-inch eight-lug wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tyres, additional underbody protection, a larger 130-litre fuel tank, raised suspension, and a strengthened chassis to cope with the increased carrying and towing loads.

“We infused the legendary strength of the Super Duty nameplate into the Ranger, baking in a new level of capability that our customers said they needed to be more productive and efficient,” Birkic said in his post.

“Applying the 'Super Duty' badge outside the North American F-Series for the first time was a big deal, and it truly earned its place.”

The Ranger Super Duty will be available in single-cab, extra-cab, and dual-cab versions, with pricing starting from $82.990 before options, accessories, and on-road costs.
