Geely has unveiled its first genuine off-road SUV in official images released ahead of the new model’s full reveal.

Geely has offered limited information about the Zhanjian 700, which Chinese media reports may adopt the Galaxy Cruiser 700 name in export markets.

The new SUV is built on what Geely calls an integrated frame, referring to what is actually expected to be a separate ladder-frame chassis, as found beneath rivals like the Toyota Prado.

The profile, headlights, and tail light panel all take inspiration from the Defender, while the stepped window line and front grille panel offer designs similar to those found on the Bronco.

Unlike those cars, however, the Zhanjian 700 could be a fully-electric model featuring a three-motor four-wheel drive system. Geely has stopped short of providing more detail.

As a concept, the Galaxy Cruiser used a plug-in hybrid powertrain with AI power management.

Geely has not disclosed power and torque figures, battery capacity, or driving range for the new model.

Geely promises “rugged off-road capability” and refers to the new model as the brand’s “first AI all-terrain hardcore SUV.”

At the reveal of the 2025 Galaxy Cruiser concept, Geely listed specifications that included independently controlled four-wheel steering, crab-walk and on-the-spot 360 rotating capabilities, an 800mm wading depth, and a swimming mode that enables an amphibious speed of 8.5km/h and the ability to float on water for up to two hours.

Geely’s sole interior image hints at height-adjustable suspension, and a rear-wheel locking tight-turn feature, low-range gearing (or a low-range imitating mode), and a rear differential lock.

A central, console-mounted gear selector with a pull-back for Drive, push forward for Reverse motion is also shown, along with unmasked dials that may control drive modes and off-road system controls.

Geely’s premium aspirations for the Battleship 700 will see it compete with vehicles like the Land Rover Defender, Toyota LandCruiser and Prado, and Chinese rivals including the Denza B5 and B8.

Full production details and overseas release timing have yet to be announced.
