LDV is considering a return of the D90 turbo-diesel to the seven-seat SUV range after a facelift for the petrol this year.
A diesel version of the LDV D90 seven-seat family SUV is under consideration to rejoin the newly-facelifted range arriving in showrooms now.
The updated D90 now on sale is exclusively powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with more power than before (184kW/410Nm vs 160kW/350Nm).
LDV says the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel (158kW/480Nm) is "under evaluation" for the facelifted line-up – as diesel accounts for a significant portion of large SUV sales – with "limited stock" remaining of the outgoing D90 diesel.
"It is available to us as an option and we are currently assessing it for our market," LDV Australia General Manager, Dinesh Chinnappa said in a written statement.
Towing capacity for the updated petrol D90 has been boosted from 2000kg to 3000kg, but it is still down slightly on the outgoing diesel's 3100kg.
The rear-wheel-drive 2025 D90 petrol matches the claimed fuel consumption of the 2024 D90 4WD diesel – 9.1L/100km – but the 4WD petrol claims to consume slightly more, at 9.4L/100km.
In the 2024 D90 line-up, the diesel was priced at a $5000 premium to the flagship Executive 4WD petrol, which now starts from $51,042 drive-away for private buyers, up $6210.
