A potential BYD Atto 2 competitor could land on Australian shores with the newly unveiled small SUV from Leapmotor, the A10, renamed B03X for export.

A new entry-level electric car from Leapmotor – part-owned by European-US automotive giant Stellantis – is on the cards for local showrooms as a rival for Australia'a cheapest electric SUV, the BYD Atto 2.
“A10 is something that is being considered. What I can tell you, though, is that Leapmotor has renamed the A10 to B03X for export markets,” said Rick Crichton, Senior Product Manager at Stellantis Australia.
The A10, or B03X as it will be known as outside of China, is reportedly due in UK showrooms in late 2026, a fellow right-hand-drive market.
Leapmotor currently sells two models on sale in Australia, the C10 medium SUV and the slightly smaller B10, with the B03X to slot in below the B10 in size and, likely, in price.
Local specifications have not been announced, but international models are equipped with a single 90kW electric motor powering the front wheels, and a choice between a 400km or a 500km range based on Chinese CLTC testing, utilising 39.8kWh and 53kWh batteries, respectively.
WLTP range ratings are estimated to sit between 320km and 420km – compared to the Atto 2's 345km – while Chinese reports claim DC charging allows for a 30 to 80 per cent top-up in 16 minutes.
A 4270mm length and 1810mm width make it slightly narrower and shorter than an Atto 2.
Mixed reports state that pricing will start under 100,000 yuan (around $AU20,000), similar to the prices of the Atto 2 in China, which starts at 96,800 yuan.
It would see it undercut the Leapmotor B10's $37,888 plus on-roads starting RRP, which was initially poised to see it be Australia’s most affordable SUV before the pricing of the Atto 2 was released at $31,990 plus on-roads.
Despite the chance to be Australia’s cheapest electric SUV, Crichton says that Stellantis is not interested in price wars with other brands.
