Mercedes-Benz is adding a new price-leading model to its GLC SUV range.

The new GLC200 Avantgarde Edition essentially strips the regular GLC200 of its 19-inch wheels to bring the price down.

The new model is being introduced with a drive-away price of $89,490 nationally, for vehicles ordered before 30 April, 2026 and delivered before 31 May, 2026.

Regular pricing after the promotional period puts the GLC200 Avantgarde Edition at $85,400 plus on-road costs, $4800 less than the standard GLC200.

In a confusing move, the new special edition model is officially called the GLC200 Avantgarde Edition, while the ‘normal’ GLC200 is known as the GLC200 Avantgarde, without the ‘Edition’ suffix.

The GLC200 Avantgarde Edition, like the regular model, is offered as an SUV-body only and not in the GLC Coupe style available with the GLC300.

It retains 4Matic all-wheel drive, a nine-speed automatic, and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 150kW and 320Nm.

Externally, the GLC200 Avantgarde Edition switches the regular GLC200’s 19-inch alloy wheels for 18-inch aero-design wheels with a two-tone black and machined finish.

The regular Avantgarde’s aluminium-look lower sills with side-step styling are also deleted, replaced with flat-profile unpainted plastic sills.

Features like a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, dual-zone climate control, LED headlights, electrically-adjustable front seats with memory, and an 11.9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain.

The Avantgarde Edition also includes metallic paint as standard. Polar White non-metallic paint is available, but can be upgraded to metallic finishes like Verde Silver, Obsidian Black, Graphite Grey, High-Tech Silver, and Spectral Blue at no extra cost – a further saving of $1100 compared to the regular model.

The interior is offered in Black, Sienna Brown and Black, or Macchiato Beige and Black, again at no extra cost, but the value-added limited edition model is not available with any other optional equipment.

Mercedes-Benz says the GLC200 Avantgarde Edition will be available in limited numbers, but hasn't indicated how many will be made available for the Australian market.
