McDonald's and Toyota have partnered with Japanese die-cast toy maker Tomica to produce the GR GT3 alongside other models for upcoming Happy Meals.

The GR GT3 race car is available now at all McDonald's Japan locations, and will carry a joint livery between the car maker and the fast food giant in a yellow or black colour scheme.

As part of the first wave of toys, the GR GT3 will join a Hino Firetruck, a Nissan Skyline patrol car, and a Toyota TownAce with a giant hamburger in the tray along with others, and is available from 10 to 23 April, 2026.

The GR GT3 has been built to FIA GT3 regulations, and is set to go head-to-head with the likes of Ford, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz in global endurance racing. It is due to enter competition in 2027 as a replacement for the Lexus RC F.

Powering the GR GT3 is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which, for racing, is required to produce between 500-600HP (373-447kW) and weigh between 1199-1300 kg.

For the road, the GR GT is powered by a version of the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 paired with a single electric motor within the transaxle, producing 478kW and 850Nm put to the road through an eight-speed automatic, with a claimed top speed of more than 320km/h.

Tomica has been producing die-cast models since the 1970s, starting with 1:64-scale Nissan Bluebirds and Toyota Crowns; the brand's cars are known for having working doors and suspension and they remain highly collectible worldwide.

The GR GT3 is offered within Happy Meals across Japan now until 23 April.

From the 24 April, the next set of Happy Meal cars will be released, featuring a Megalodon transport carrier, a Nissan Caravan Ambulance, a McDonald’s Happy Meal Bus, a Toyota Dyna tow truck, and a secret toy.

Like most happy meals, the car you receive remains a mystery until the meal is opened. Tomica is also planning to make a normal GR GT3 die-cast in the future, but they aren't due to carry as much rarity as the McDonald's edition.
