Australian prices for the Cupra Tavascan electric SUV have been confirmed ahead of its arrival in April, two years after its global debut.

The second electric vehicle from Cupra – after the related Born hatchback launched in 2023 – will launch in Australia in two variants, with the most affordable Endurance grade starting from $60,990 before on-road costs.

It is the first Chinese-built model from the Volkswagen Group to be sold in Australia in two decades.

The Tavascan Endurance is $2410 cheaper than an updated 2025 Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive – which starts from $63,400 in a limited-time 'Launch Series' – while the $74,490 VZ is $1090 dearer than the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive.

It also undercuts its Skoda Enyaq twin-under-the-skin, which is sourced from the Czech Republic and starts from $69,990 for the rear-wheel-drive Sportline, sharing its drivetrain with the Tavascan Endurance.

The rear-wheel-drive Tavascan Endurance is more affordable than the front-wheel-drive Cupra Formentor VZe plug-in hybrid ($64,990) and the all-wheel-drive Formentor VZx ($65,790).

Under its skin, the Endurance has a 210kW/545Nm single electric motor with a 77kWh useable lithium-ion battery enabling a 534-kilometre driving range on the European WLTP lab-test standard – 68km more than the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive.

A 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.8 seconds is claimed, compared to 5.9sec for the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive.

The dual-motor all-wheel-drive Tavascan VZ adds an 80kW/134Nm front electric motor for a 250kW combined output, with a 5.5-second 0-100km/h acceleration time – 1.2sec more than the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive.

It has a 499-kilometre WLTP driving range, while the optional $8000 Extreme Package – which adds 21-inch forged alloy wheels and "performance" tyres – sees its range fall to 463km.

Both variants support 11kW alternating-current (AC) home charging and 135kW direct-current (DC) fast charging, with the latter allowing a 10 to 80 per cent charge in "under" 30 minutes.

Standard equipment for the Tavascan Endurance includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a 15-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, illuminated front and rear Cupra logos, LED exterior lighting, a hands-free electric tailgate, and a full suite of active safety features.

The optional $4500 Interior Package for the Endurance adds 20-inch alloy wheels, a 360-degree camera, dark blue microfibre upholstery, power-adjustable front seats with memory function, heated front seats, a 12-speaker Sennheiser audio system, additional interior ambient lighting, and illuminated scuff plates.

This equipment is added to the standard features list for the VZ – while it further includes black and copper 21-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, matrix LED headlights, and a fixed panoramic sunroof with an electric sunblind.

The first customer deliveries of the 2025 Cupra Tavascan electric SUV will commence in Australia in April.

Cupra Tavascan VZ models fitted with the optional $8000 Extreme Package, which also adds Cup Racing front bucket seats, grey nappa leather upholstery, and ventilated front seats, will become available in mid-2025.

Cupra Australia has confirmed the Tavascan will be displayed at the Everything Electric Australia exhibition at Sydney Olympic Park between Friday March 7, 2025, and Sunday March 9, 2025, while demonstrator examples are available to view at Cupra showrooms.

Sister models to the Cupra Tavascan, the Volkswagen ID.4 and Volkswagen ID.5, are due in Australian showrooms at a similar time.
