The GWM Tank 300 off-road SUV has received revisions to its interior in China with a larger touchscreen, a revised centre console and more technology – while there is a new taupe exterior colour option.
An update for the 2025 GWM Tank 300 off-road SUV has been unveiled in China, but it's not planned for an Australian launch "at this stage".
A GWM Australia spokesperson confirmed the updated Tank 300 is currently limited to the Chinese market, with the local importer to continue with the current version for now.
The update is headlined by the addition of a larger 14.6-inch floating-look infotainment touchscreen running GWM's latest 'Coffee OS 3.0' infotainment software with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, which replaces the current 12.3-inch unit integrated into the dashboard.
GWM has also added a new D-shaped steering wheel to the Tank 300, along with a revised centre console design with dual 50-watt wireless phone chargers, updated physical controls, a new central air vent design, and an updated finish for its dashboard with Tank 300 branding.
The aviation-inspired gear shifter has been replaced with a column-mounted selector, while there is a 12-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation – up from nine speakers – and Nappa leather upholstery has been added with a white colour option.
Exterior revisions are limited to a tweaked front bumper design – with CarNewsChina reporting petrol and diesel versions gain a built-in winch in China – and a Desert Sand taupe colour option joining existing finishes including white, grey, black, orange and red.
"At this stage, there are no confirmed plans to introduce this revised version to the Australian market," the spokesperson said. "We will continue to offer the current version, which was recently introduced with a new diesel powertrain."
The Chinese-market Tank 300 is available with GWM's 'Hi4-T' plug-in hybrid system recently added to the Cannon Alpha in Australia, pairing a 180kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 120kW/400Nm electric motor for a 300kW and 750Nm combined output.
A 2.4-litre turbo-diesel version has joined the Chinese line-up, mirroring Australia – with the Tank 300 diesel due in local showrooms this month, joining the existing turbo-petrol and hybrid powertrains.
Priced from $47,990 drive-away, the existing Tank 300 diesel costs $2000 more than petrol variants, while equipment is aligned to hybrid versions, including digital radio, front cross-traffic alert, rear-seat reminders, built-in satellite navigation, and connected car services.
The 2.4-litre turbo-diesel – also available in the updated GWM Cannon dual-cab ute – outputs 135kW and 480Nm and is paired to a nine-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, with its braked towing capacity rated at 3000 kilograms, up from 2500kg for petrol and hybrid models.
