Isuzu Ute Australia has increased the national drive-away price of its D-Max X-Terrain ute – along with the X-Rider and Blade – with its mechanically-identical Mazda BT-50 SP twin now undercutting the model it's based on.

The national drive-away cost of the 2025 Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain ute has increased by $1000 to $68,990, for savings of between $6500 and $9000 over its unchanged $70,500 list price when including estimated on-road costs.

Its recently-updated 2025 Mazda BT-50 SP four-wheel-drive dual-cab pick-up twin remains available for $67,990 drive-away nationwide, matching the cost of the D-Max X-Terrain it's based on, before its recent price increase.

The BT-50 SP retails for $71,500 before on-road costs – $1000 more than the D-Max X-Terrain's recommended retail price (RRP) – but it is now $1000 cheaper than the Isuzu under each brand's national drive-away offers.

Mazda Australia has offered BT-50 XT, XTR, and GT four-wheel-drive dual-cab pick-up variants at national drive-away prices since the facelifted BT-50 launched in February 2025, with the XT available for $54,990 drive-away, compared to its usual $56,220 RRP.

The $62,750 before on-road costs XTR is available for $62,490 drive-away across Australia, while the $66,170 GT is available for $65,990 – though the nationwide drive-away offers do not apply to cab-chassis, two-wheel drive or extra-cab variants.

Meanwhile, the Isuzu D-Max X-Rider is available for $57,990 drive-away – down from its $59,500 RRP, and $1000 more than its previous drive-away offer – and special offers are listed for entry-level single-cab D-Max SX and BT-50 XS grades, at less than $40,000 drive-away.

The national drive-away offer for the flagship D-Max Blade, which is modified by Walkinshaw Automotive in Melbourne, has also increased $1000 to $77,990.

Differences between the D-Max X-Terrain and BT-50 SP include more cupholders in the Isuzu's cabin, along with a six-year/150,000-kilometre warranty for the Isuzu over the Mazda's five-year/unlimited-kilometre coverage.

Isuzu offers 13 months of roadside assistance for its vehicles which automatically extends when servicing at the dealer up to a maximum of seven years, while Mazda's roadside assistance mirrors its five-year warranty coverage.

The BT-50 has synthetic Alcantara and leather upholstery with orange accents compared to the D-Max's black leather with red stitching, and a lower payload than the Isuzu at 924kg versus 930kg due to its higher kerb mass rating.

All other equipment is identical between the D-Max X-Terrain and BT-50 SP, such as 18-inch alloy wheels, a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

VFACTS new-car sales data shows 6196 Isuzu D-Maxes were delivered in Australia in the first three months of 2025 – making it the nation's sixth most-popular vehicle – compared to 3868 Mazda BT-50s.

Other four-wheel-drive dual-cab pick-up utes currently being offered for around $70,000 drive-away nationwide include the Ford Ranger Wildtrak bi-turbo four-cylinder ($70,000), Volkswagen Amarok Style TDI500 bi-turbo four-cylinder ($69,740), and Mitsubishi Triton GSR ($66,190).
