An update for the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), delivering more electric-only driving range, is now 'targeted' to arrive in Australia in January 2026.

Previously expected in local Mitsubishi showrooms by the end of the year, the new Outlander PHEV has slipped into January 2026, around six months after the updated petrol-only version launched.

"The target launch date for the Outlander PHEV is January 2026. Further details will be available in the lead-up to launch," a Mitsubishi Motors Australia spokesperson said.

It is headlined by a larger 22.7kWh battery pack, delivering an improved electric-only driving range of around 100 kilometres on the NEDC lab-test standard, up from 84 kilometres in the outgoing version.

The all-wheel-drive Outlander PHEV will continue to pair a 100kW/203Nm 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an 85kW/255Nm front electric motor and 100kW/195Nm rear electric motor.

A 185kW combined power output is claimed.

Australian specification details for the Outlander PHEV are yet to be confirmed, but it is likely to mirror the petrol-only model, including a larger 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and Yamaha speakers, replacing Bose.

Wireless Android Auto support, new graphics for its 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats and a digital rear-view mirror are also expected, while it is likely to gain Mitsubishi Connect telematics in Australia.

Design changes include a revised upper grille pattern, redesigned alloy wheels, a Moonstone Grey paint finish, and clear tail-light lenses.

In the lead-up to the updated model's arrival, Mitsubishi Australia continues to offer national drive-away pricing for the Outlander PHEV to clear remaining Model Year 2024 (MY24) stock.

A $2500 cash bonus is also available for remaining dealer stock of the smaller Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV, which has been discontinued in Australia due to new safety standards introduced earlier this year.

More details on the 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, including pricing and specifications, will be shared closer to its expected arrival in January.
