The 2026 Polestar 2 electric sedan has debuted with several upgrades ahead of an Australian launch by the end of the year.

Revisions applied to the Polestar 2 include an upgraded processor chip for its infotainment system, with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon chip said to deliver faster download speeds, improved reaction times, better responsiveness, and smoother performance over the current processor.

The electric sedan continues to feature an Android Automotive-based infotainment system, which includes Google Built-In services while retaining support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone connections.

A Polestar Australia spokesperson told Drive the 2026 Polestar 2 is "on track" to arrive in local showrooms between July and September 2025, about 12 months after its last update, with pricing and specifications to be confirmed at a later date.

Polestar has added an optional 14-speaker, 1350-watt Bowers & Wilkins audio system – also used in vehicles from its Volvo sister brand, and the Polestar 3 SUV – to join the standard, unbranded speakers and mid-tier, extra-cost Harman Kardon system.

It includes 'tweeter-on-top' technology to improve audio clarity and accuracy, along with midrange speakers to minimise distortion.

The 'Dune' sand exterior colour, also borrowed from Volvo, has been added to the Polestar 2 to replace the 'Jupiter' finish, while there is a new five-spoke design for the 20-inch alloy wheels in the optional Performance Pack.

In addition, Polestar has introduced a new 'MicroTech' fabric upholstery with a quilted design, and Black Ash deco with the optional Plus Pack.

A 'Prime Pack' has been added with the equipment of the individual Pilot, Plus and Climate packs – including a panoramic sunroof, a heat pump, a heated steering wheel, and an electric tailgate – and rear privacy glass, which now covers the rear side windows.

The Pilot Pack is already standard in Australian-market Polestar 2s, with semi-autonomous highway driving and an emergency stop assist function – joining other active safety features, including adaptive cruise control, which was made standard for Model Year 2025.

A new 70kWh battery manufactured by CATL has been introduced for the Standard Range Single Motor rear-wheel-drive variant in some markets, replacing the current 69kWh LG Chem battery, for a 554km WLTP-rated driving range – up from 546km.

Polestar Australia has not confirmed if local Standard Range Single Motor examples will receive the new battery.

More details on the 2026 Polestar 2 – including pricing and specifications – will be confirmed closer to its Australian launch between July and September 2025.

It is currently priced between $62,400 before on-road costs for the Standard Range Single Motor and $80,380 for the Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack.

New-car sales data supplied by Polestar to the Electric Vehicle Council shows 123 Polestar 2s have been delivered in Australia year-to-date, compared with 2046 Tesla Model 3s, 302 BYD Seals, and 44 Hyundai Ioniq 6s.
