The most affordable Honda in Australia has dropped below $33,000 for the first time since the end of 2021, following the brand’s switch to a non-negotiable agency sales model.
Honda Australia has cut $2000 from its most affordable model, making it the first time a vehicle from the brand has been available for less than $33,000 drive-away since the end of 2021.
Until 31 January 2025 – unless extended – the Model Year 2025 Honda HR-V Vi X small SUV is available from $32,900 drive-away, a $2000 discount from its usual $34,900 retail price.
It is the most affordable Honda vehicle in Australia since the previous-generation HR-V and Civic sold out three years ago, ahead of the launch of the then-$16,000 dearer new Civic hatch and then-$5000 dearer new HR-V.
In December 2021, the cheapest Honda vehicles available in Australia were the $31,000 drive-away Civic VTi-S hatch and the $31,300 HR-V VTi – up from $27,300 and $25,990 before on-road costs for the same models, respectively, six months prior under an earlier sales structure.
Honda continues to offer $2800 off the base-spec CR-V VTi X mid-size SUV – while it is also offering $2000 off the ZR-V VTi X+ SUV that sits between the HR-V and CR-V in size, along with $500 off ZR-V and CR-V E:HEV hybrid variants.
Additionally, in-stock ZR-V and CR-V models built in 2024 receive five complimentary scheduled services and a $2500 contribution when financed through Honda’s in-house service.
Deals for Honda ZR-V, CR-V and Civic Type R vehicles built in 2023 also remain available with price cuts – along with an extended eight-year warranty and roadside assistance coverage, five complimentary services, genuine floor mats, and Honda Financial Services contributions for the two SUVs.
VFACTS new-car sales data reveals 14,092 new Honda vehicles were delivered in Australia in 2024 – a 2.6 per cent increase from 2023, when it recorded its lowest annual sales since at least the mid-1990s.
It followed Honda Australia’s switch to a fixed-price agency sales model on 1 July 2021 which saw the brand reduce its dealer network and focus on higher-specification, more profitable variants for its models.
Following the switch, the brand said it was targeting 20,000 annual sales – down from a record of 60,529 achieved in 2007.
In 2024, the Honda CR-V, Civic and Accord recorded a decline in sales, while the delivery numbers for the HR-V and ZR-V grew.
The CR-V was Honda’s best-selling vehicle in Australia last year with 5547 deliveries, followed by the ZR-V (4092), HR-V (3350), Civic (966) and Accord (137).
