The all-terrain tyre market is hotting up, with Continental's off-road brand launching two new-generation tyres.
General Tire – the off-road brand owned by Continental – has announced two new all-terrain tyres for the Australian market.
The General Tire Grabber ATX and Grabber AT3 models have both been designed to work in both on- and off-road conditions.
However, while the AT3 is a more traditional road-biased all-terrain – with a focus on snow grip – the ATX leans more towards the emerging R/T range of tyres coming onto the market.
Known as rugged-terrain tyres, these appear to be aggressive mud-terrain tyres without sacrificing day-to-day grip on sealed road surfaces, and are increasingly popular with four-wheel-drive owners in Australia.
Both new Grabber models are said to feature cut and chip resistance, a quieter and more comfortable ride, increased traction in dirt, snow, and gravel, and compounds designed to maximise longevity.
They also feature large sidewall lugs and deflection ribs to help direct stones and debris away from the vehicle's bodywork.
The General Tire Grabber ATX is available in 13 sizes from 16 to 20 inches, while the AT3 comes in nine sizes from 16 to 18 inches.
