A Ferrari F40 has been destroyed following a crash near the town of Markyate, north of London.

With protective coverings seen on parts of its interior, it's claimed that the vehicle was on a test drive, being piloted by a service technician. The cause of the accident remains unknown, however, it’s been reported that the driver escaped uninjured.

Reports state that this particular F40 was registered as F40PRX, which would make it the highest-mileage F40 in existence.

Photos shared on social media show the iconic supercar on its side against trees, with a pole lying next to it.

The front clip is torn off, the roof caved in, and the front right of the chassis appears to have sustained structural damage.

The Ferrari F40 is famously the final model signed off by Enzo Ferrari. Today, this legendary car holds immense value, with one selling in London in late 2024 for nearly AU$4 million dollars.

The Ferrari F40 is equipped with a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, delivering 352kW and 577Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Only 1,311 Ferrari F40s were produced, with just 10 of them arriving in Australia.
