Hyundai Australia has recalled a combined 4138 examples of its 2021-2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Genesis GV60, GV70 and G80 models, citing a potential software fault with the affected vehicles.

Meanwhile, Genesis – Hyundai's luxury division – has recalled 572 examples of its GV60 and GV70 SUVs and the G80 sedan.

The Hyundai recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a software issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), the auxiliary 12 Volt battery may not charge as intended, resulting in battery drainage and loss of motive power.

“A loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
