The price for the Chinese-built Mazda 6e electric sedan has been revealed in the UK.

The UK-spec Mazda 6e offers a first glimpse of how the right-hand-drive model might be positioned in Australia when it launches in the coming months.

In the UK market, the cheapest Mazda 6e will be priced above the entry-level Tesla Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive.

Australian pricing for the Model 3 RWD starts from $54,900 plus on-road costs, with a 62.5-kilowatt-hour battery and 520km WLTP-rated driving range.

The similarly-sized BYD Seal Dynamic starts from $46,990 with a 61.4kWh battery and 460km WLTP range, with the Seal Premium equipping an 82.5kWh battery for 570km of range rating from $52,990, both before on-road costs.

UK specs for the Mazda 6e reveal a slightly larger 78kWh battery capacity than its base model rivals, and rated with a 560km driving range.

Pricing starts from £38,995 ($AU75,100) for the Mazda 6e Takumi, compared to Tesla’s £37,990 starting price for the Model 3 RWD (AU73,150).

While pricing, taxes and levies vary between the UK market and Australia, the positioning hints that Mazda may not try to undercut the Model 3 when it arrives Down Under.

In late 2025, Mazda announced that it was aiming to bring the 6e into Australia priced from under $55,000 before on-road costs.

At that time, Mazda confirmed the Australian-spec 6e would be fitted with a 78kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery and a 190kW single electric motor, later revealed as matching the UK-bound models.

Before its 2025 retirement, the top-spec turbo petrol Mazda 6 G35 Atenza sedan was listed with a price of $52,590 plus on-road costs.

If Mazda Australia opts for a similar price premium relative to the Model 3 in Australia, the Mazda 6e could potentially be priced from around $56,490.

Closely-priced models within Mazda’s current line-up include the CX-60 G40e Evolve AWD, from $55,240 +ORCs, and the highest-grade CX-5 G35 Akera AWD, from $55,650 +ORCs.

The two-variant model line-up for the UK sees features like dual-zone climate control, heat pump HVAC, ‘Maztex’ faux-leather trim, a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, driver’s head-up display, powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, and 19-inch alloy wheels fitted to the entry-level 6e Takumi.

The Takumi Plus grade adds only a small upgrade in equipment with two-tone nappa leather trim and a heated steering wheel for £1000 ($AU1925), with no change to range or drivetrain.

The Mazda 6e is due to arrive in Australia before the end of the first quarter of 2026, with local pricing and specifications expected to be announced in the lead-up to its Australian introduction.
