New 2025 MG Cyberster variant sneaks in under $100,000

A new, more affordable MG Cyberster variant has been added to the electric sports car range in Australia, taking the model below the $100,000 barrier for the first time.

The brand-new, single-motor 77kWh RWD variant joins the existing MG Cyberster 77kWh AWD, and features similar levels of equipment, though it comes at a $15,100 discount.

Priced from $99,900 before on-road costs, the Cyberster RWD comes with much of the same equipment as its more expensive alternative, though omits the additional front-mount motor and downgrades the outputs.

Both are underpinned by the same 77kWh battery, though the RWD model grade counts a longer 552km (NEDC) driving range compared to the original’s 500km estimate. However, the new RWD version now only makes do with 250kW/475Nm from its single motor, compared to the all-wheel-drive variant’s 375kW/725Nm outputs.

It also sprints from zero to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds as opposed to the AWD’s time of 3.2 seconds.

There are some minor changes in specification between the two variants, such as the inclusion of Nappa leather upholstery of the RWD grade (instead of the AWD’s Alcantara) and its wheels are now an inch smaller in diameter compared to the AWD’s 20-inch units.

The RWD variant inherits equipment such as the Lamborghini-style ‘scissor’ doors, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, Brembo front brakes, and a power-folding soft-top roof.

As before, the Cyberster RWD recharges at the same 144kW DC maximum charge rate, allowing an indicative 10-80 per cent top-up in 40 minutes.

Available to both variants is a fresh new colour named Mayfair Blue.

According to VFACTS data, MG has delivered 19 units of the MG Cyberster in 2025 to date.

The 2025 MG Cyberster RWD is now on sale throughout Australian MG dealerships.
