Renault has announced that the new Renault Scenic E-Tech electric SUV will be arriving in Australia in late 2025.
The Scenic was previously offered in Australia as a people mover, or MPV, from 2001 until 2010 in both five-and seven-seat versions over the years.
The new Scenic E-Tech arrives as a much more modern offering, moving from internal combustion engines to an all-electric range, and morphing from a people mover to a five-seat medium SUV.
Full details of pricing and specifications will follow closer to the Scenic E-Tech’s late 2025 Australian arrival.
For now, Renault has confirmed that it will offer the Scenic E-Tech in both Standard Range and Long Range versions.
The Renault Scenic E-Tech Standard Range will feature a 60kWh battery, with a 430km WLTP range rating driven by a 125kW/280Nm single motor, powering the front wheels.
The Scenic E-Tech Long Range adopts a larger 87kWh battery, extending WLTP range to 625km.
It retains a single-motor powertrain, but outputs are bumped up to 160kW/300Nm.
The Long Range is also set to be quicker to 100km/h, at 7.9 seconds, compared to the 8.6-second claim for the Standard Range.
The larger 87kWh battery will also carry a faster DC charge rate of up to 150kW on a compatible charger, compared to 130kW for the 60kWh Standard Range.
The Scenic E-Tech will sit above the Megane E-Tech, which Renault has positioned in Australia’s small SUV category.
The Scenic E-Tech measures 4470mm long, 1864mm wide, 1565mm tall and rides on a 2785mm wheelbase.
Compared to the Megane E-Tech, the Scenic E-Tech is 270mm longer with a 100mm longer wheelbase, and is 65mm taller. Alongside Renault’s petrol-powered Koleos medium SUV, the Scenic is 202mm shorter, but has an 81mm longer wheelbase, and is 113mm lower.
Boot space in the Scenic E-Tech measures 542 litres with the rear seats up, compared to 440L in the Megane E-Tech and 458L in the Koleos.
“Earlier this year we announced Renault Australia would introduce six new or updated models over the next 18 months,” Glen Sealey, Renault Australia’s general manager, said in a statement..
“The Renault Scenic E-Tech is just the start of our revitalisation program, and we are delighted to be able to introduce this award-winning car in Australia.”
“In a sea of ‘same-same’ SUVs, the Renault Scenic E-Tech stands out for its French flair, cutting-edge design, and easy-to-use technology.”
