Save thousands with these 2024 plate clearance sales

You can save thousands of dollars on your new car purchase by taking advantage of manufacturer plate clearance sales early in the year.

This is where car brands look to clear stocks of cars that were delivered new to dealers in 2024, as despite only being a matter of months or even weeks old, these brand-new cars have a compliance plate that essentially makes them last year’s model.

Simply put, dealers want to create room for new 2025-plated cars, so the older ones need to go.

It may be a small technicality, but it can generate significant savings for buyers.

For example, Mitsubishi has a range of offers where buyers can save up to $5000 on stock of the new Triton ute, as well as up to $3000 on the rugged Pajero Sport SUV. What’s more, you can combine these deals with two other offers and shave $1000 off the price if you are trading in a Holden, and another $1000 if you are an NBL club member.

Nissan buyers can get up to $5000 cashback on the award-winning Qashqai and X-Trail SUVs, and the Leaf electric car is down a massive $21,000 to $34,990 drive away as the brand seeks to clear stocks ahead of a brand new model arriving later this year.

Ford has super-sized savings on MY23 Ford F-150 full-sized utes, with up to $8000 in the form of a gift card credit on the table for the big American pickup. Australia’s favourite ute, the Ford Ranger, doesn’t miss out either with up to a $3000 rebate on cars in stock.

A plate clearance can be extra valuable if a model is in or near runout, with the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan 132TSI Life now at $50,990 drive away, about a $3000 saving on its retail price ahead of the all-new (and expected to be more expensive) Tiguan set to arrive by the middle of the year.

Urban buyers can benefit from petrol or electric savings with 2024-plated stocks of the MG4 electric hatch from $34,990 drive away, and new MG3 petrol hatch from just $22,990 drive away, both bundled with a ten-year warranty.

Keeping things small, the 2024 Kia Picanto is being offered from $22,190 drive away or for those wanting something even sharper, at $21,990 with a manual transmission.

Honda is clearing 2024 SUV models with up to $2800 savings plus the inclusion of five-year servicing on many models. Even sporty buyers can benefit from a $3000 saving on the Honda Civic Type-R hot hatch.

Family buyers can get into a seven-seat Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max Urban for $39,990 drive away ($2000 saving) or five-seat range-topping Tiggo 7 Pro Ultimate for $40,990 drive away ($5000 saving).

A constant favourite among Australian buyers, the Mazda CX-5, is available from $37,990 drive away (G20 Maxx), with its smaller sibling, the CX-3 G20 Sport, yours from $29,990 drive away. Even the new six-cylinder CX-60 G40E Evolve is incentivised from $56,990 drive away, a saving of around $8000.

For prestige buyers, Genesis is also offering a finance deposit contribution of up to $5,000 on petrol 2024 GV70 SUV models in stock.

The majority of these offers will run in-market until the end of February or while stocks last, so if you are in the market for some big new-year new-car savings, these plate clearance deals can make a big difference.
