A $500 price rise has been applied to turbo versions of the Mazda CX-5 family SUV with an update for 2025, ahead of the new-generation model due next year.
Family Cars
Turbo-petrol versions of the 2025 Mazda CX-5 family SUV are $500 dearer than before with the launch of an updated model, while the cost of non-turbo editions remains identical despite new equipment for most grades.
On sale now, the 2025 CX-5 – likely to be the current model's final update before the next generation's local arrival next year – gains more standard features in three of its five grades.
Mazda has introduced a front-wheel-drive version of the previously AWD-only Touring variant, which replaces the outgoing all-wheel-drive Maxx Sport, at $42,600 before on-road costs – $2500 less than the AWD model.
The CX-5 line-up continues to start from $36,740 for the 2.0-litre petrol G20 Maxx front-wheel-drive automatic, and now tops out at $55,650 for the 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol G35 Akera all-wheel-drive, up $500.
For 2025, the Touring gains upgraded LED headlights with daytime running lights and an adaptive cornering function, along with Cruising & Traffic Support traffic jam assist with lane-centring – previously exclusive to the GT SP and above.
The Maxx and Maxx Sport continue to omit daytime running lights.
GT SP grades are now fitted with the Akera's adaptive LED headlights, while the Maxx Sport receives front parking sensors.
It is expected to be the final update for the current, second-generation Mazda CX-5 – first introduced in Australia eight years ago – ahead of the new, third-generation model due in local showrooms in the second half of next year.
At launch, the new-generation CX-5 will be limited to an updated version of the current 2.5-litre non-turbo engine, matched to all-wheel-drive, with a hybrid version due in 2027. The turbo-petrol engine has been axed globally for the new model.
The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is in showrooms now.
