The 2025 Tesla Model Y Long Range has had its claimed driving range increased to 600km, when tested on the European WLTP standard, thanks to the fitment of a larger battery.

According to certification documents, overseas versions of the Tesla Model Y Long Range are now fitted with a larger 84.85kWh battery, up from 81.65kWh, which is broadly in line with the Australian model’s bump in driving range.

When pricing of the updated Model Y was first revealed earlier this year, Tesla claimed a driving range of 551km, but now the local website reflects a 600km claim.

However, the entry-level Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive still features the same 466km as before, which is still 11km more than last year’s model, in part thanks to the 62.5kWh battery introduced with the latest model, up from 60kWh.

Despite the 11 per cent increase in driving range, the Model Y Long Range remains priced from $68,900 before on-road costs, while the RWD version is $58,900.

Performance also remains the same, with the Model Y Long Range featuring a claimed 331kW – according to data from Tesla in China, where the vehicle is built for Australia – from dual motors and all-wheel drive, for a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.8 seconds.

In addition to the boost in battery capacity, the Model Y and Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive entry-level variants are now available in a new Diamond Black exterior paint finish.
