The second-generation 2025 Skoda Kodiaq seven-seat SUV has arrived in Australia with price rises across the range, but with more equipment and specification than the outgoing model.
The new entry point to the range, the Kodiaq Select replaces the outgoing model's base Style variant, and is priced from $54,990 before on-road costs – an increase of $1700 over the older model.
But Skoda Australia claims it has offset the increase with $5700 worth of additional equipment, including leather trim, heated front seats, a new 13-inch touchscreen, satellite navigation, and a suite of advanced safety systems previously not available on Style variants.
The mid-spec Kodiaq Sportline is priced from $58,990 before on-road costs, $2500 more than the outgoing model, while the new, limited-run Kodiaq Launch Edition is priced from $63,490 plus on-roads.
The range-topping Skoda Kodiaq RS will complete the line-up later in the year.
Select, Sportline and Limited Edition grades will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 140kW/320Nm, while the flagship RS punches out 195kW/400Nm from the same-sized engine.
All new Kodiaqs send power to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Skoda claims the Select, Sportline and Launch Editions will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 8.2 seconds, while the RS needs only 6.4sec.
Growing in length and height, but shrinking its width, the 2025 Kodiaq measures 4758mm long, 1864mm wide and 1657mm tall, on a 2781mm wheelbase identical to the model it replaces.
All Australian variants will be seven seaters, which Skoda says positions the new Kodiaq against the Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-80, and Hyundai Santa Fe, while the Toyota Kluger remains slightly larger than its rivals.
With all seven seats in place, the Kodiaq’s boot quotes a 289-litre capacity, expanding to 794L with the third row of seats stowed and 2035L with the second row also folded – increases over the outgoing model of 19L, 29L and 30L, respectively.
Fitted as standard on all new Kodiaqs is a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen with satellite navigation, wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, and dual 15-watt wireless smartphone chargers with cooling.
There is more centre console space now the gear shifter has been moved to the steering wheel column.
Other features in the Kodiaq Select include 19-inch alloy wheels, a black leather interior, rear privacy glass, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, LED exterior lighting, and a nine-speaker sound system.
In terms of safety, Skoda Australia is touting traffic sign recognition with a predictive speed limiter added for the new model, plus revised adaptive cruise control capabilities based on navigation data.
It also offers upgraded lane-keep assist, driver fatigue monitoring and autonomous emergency braking systems – the lattermost with pedestrian and cyclist detection – plus blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, an exit warning system, a rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, and nine airbags.
Stepping up to the Sportline nets buyers matrix LED headlights, scrolling turn indicators, 20-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out exterior accents, black headliner and rear pillar trim, front sports seats, a heated steering wheel, driver profile settings, and a ‘premium’ sound system.
Buyers of the Sportline also gain access to the $4000 Ultimate Package that bundles adaptive suspension, a head-up display, heated second-row outboard seats, a surround-view monitor, hands-free tailgate, progressive steering, and a power-adjustable front passenger seat.
The Launch Edition meanwhile, which is based on the entry-level Select, adopts the matrix LED headlights and dynamic indicators from the Sportline and all equipment found in the Ultimate Package, as well as massaging front seats, a unique illuminated front grille, and a panoramic glass roof.
The 2025 Skoda Kodiaq is in showrooms now.
