The Genesis GV70 won the Best Medium SUV under $80K in this year's Drive Car of the Year awards. Here's everything you need to know about this luxury SUV.

Genesis GV70 buyer’s guide

The Genesis GV70 was crowned the Best Medium SUV under $80K for how it approaches the luxury car brief in a different way to its competitors, while offering impressive levels of standard features for the money.

The Genesis GV70 has been a major success for the brand, and is by far its best-seller with 78 sold in February 2025 and 136 year-to-date.

Like what you see? Here's everything you need to know to buy the Genesis GV70 that is right for you!

How much is the Genesis GV70?

There are three variants of the Genesis GV70 – although an electrified version is being added to the line-up soon.

The range starts at $78,500 for the 2.5-litre turbo-petrol GV70 Advanced AWD. At the top of the line-up, the GV70 Signature Sport AWD has a price tag of $89,500. Both prices exclude on-road costs.

The Signature and Signature Sport grades can also be had with a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol and AWD powertrain.

However, only the 2.5-litre in the base-spec Advanced was eligible for our under $80K category, with the other variants and the 3.5-litre engine ruled out. For clarity, there's a $9000 premium to step up to the Signature grade and a further $2000 to the Signature Sport, both with the 2.5-litre turbocharged engine.

The entry-level Genesis GV70 comes with features such as 19-inch alloy wheels, a 27-inch infotainment screen, Genesis Connected Services, over-the-air updates, a head-up display, panoramic sunroof, and heated and ventilated front seats to name a few.

The Genesis GV70 is supported by Genesis’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

What colours is it available in?

The luxury SUV is available in eight gloss paint colours and four matte.

For the base model, you can choose between Uyuni White, Savile Silver, Makalu Grey, Vik Black, Storr Green, Ceres Blue, Capri Blue, and Mauna Red for the gloss, and Matterhorn White, Makalu Grey, Storr Green, and Ceres Blue for the matte.

All gloss colours are available on all variants at no extra cost, but the matte finish carries a $2000 premium.

Which variant do we recommend?

The Drive judges recommend the Genesis GV70 2.5L Advanced AWD, which starts at $78,500 plus on-roads.

This model combines a 2.5-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine (224kW/422Nm) and an eight-speed automatic transmission to drive all four wheels.

None of the exterior or interior styling choices cost any extra, so we’d go for the Capri Blue paint on the outside combined with the Ocean Wave Blue and Havana Brown two-tone leather option on the inside.

What is the best deal on a Genesis GV70?

There are currently seven Genesis dealers across Australia, including studios in Sydney and Melbourne, plus a test drive centre in Perth.

Stock levels are good across the country. Genesis has told Drive that there are vehicles available for immediate delivery, while custom 'build to order' cars have a wait time of less than three months.

While Genesis doesn’t have any current offers on brand-new GV70s, it does have a selection of Certified Pre-Owned vehicles ready for immediate delivery, which come with the next scheduled service complimentary, plus an additional year of free 24/7 Premium Roadside Assistance.

You can find plenty of new and used Genesis vehicles available now from dealers around Australia on Drive Marketplace.
